About:   Krishna Thomas

Originally from the Philippines and Bahrain, Mrs. Krishna has called Charleston home for more than two decades after getting her degrees from Eastern Illinois University. She began her formal tap training with Jan Fischer (Jacqueline Bennett Dance Center) and Keyana Latimer (M.A.D.D. Rhythms), although her background is in political science and early childhood education. Mrs. Krishna taught her first kindergarten class when she was just 16 years old! She continued with faculty development and teacher training, and currently directs the early childhood dance program at DanceLife. She has trained several assistant teachers through the years, and is a licensed Zumbini® and AcroDance Preschool® instructor. She is also the secondary-school chapter advisor for the National Honors Society of Dance Arts, and a member of the National Dance Education Organization.

A tap and musical theatre enthusiast, you'll usually find Mrs. Krishna looking for music, in class with preschoolers, teaching tap, or watching Star Trek reruns.  She has choreographed for the DanceLife Center, Charleston High School and the Cumberland School District, and loves to perform. She was most recently in Central Illinois Stage Company's summer 2022 production of The Drowsy Chaperone. Mrs. Krishna says, "I am a big believer in teaching and learning, and my goal is to pass on a love of learning and dance to my students. My greatest joy is seeing my students become well-rounded performers and individuals." She and Mr. Antoine are parents to Samuel, Anthony and Paul.
